Intervention And Follow Up Video Allison

Last year, I watched a heart-wrenching episode of A&E’s Intervention featuring a young woman named Allison.  She was an over achiever with a difficult family past.  During college, she crashed through the façade and ended up addicted to inhalants.  The episode showed her purchasing ten aerosol computer dusters at a time and driving shortly after she huffed.  Her speech was slurred, her behavior was erratic and extreme, and her future looked bleak.

Drug Rehabs Effect On Allison

Allison was particularly resistant to police officers attempted to remove her from her home one day.  She was very reluctant to go to drug rehab, but did get things started toward the end of the episode.  Since then, I have wondered what happened to this young woman.  Did drug rehab have a lasting effect on her?  Did she even stay the full treatment period?  How did her family react to any changes she made?

Unfortunately, I have only found a couple of short clips about this episode.  I hope A&E posts a full video episode on their website soon.  They claimed it was one of the most watched episodes of Intervention, so I am optimistic.  The short videos I did watch showed a dramatically different young woman.  She had dyed her hair, sounded clear and coherent, and just looked healthy.

Allison On Ninth Step After Drug Rehab

Amazingly, she was on her ninth step sometime after leaving drug rehab.  The clip showed her delivering her amends letters to various people, including one of the police officers she so strongly resisted in the first episode.  He looked genuinely pleased to see her in such good health.

One short scene has intrigued me.  She is shown in a living room with her mother, commenting how they were having a nice time and her mom brought up something upsetting.  Since the clip abruptly ended at that point, I have no idea what happened afterward.  Did her mom discuss a topic she wasn’t ready to handle?  Was her mom throwing daggers at Allison to disrupt the peace?  I really don’t know, and it does make
a difference.

It’s possible that Allison had become healthier than her mom, and her mom needed to knock Allison down to her level.  Or, her mom may have brought up an honest issue Allison hasn’t dealt with yet and didn’t want to hear about.  It would speak volumes about our true level of recovery.  Since she is on her ninth step, I am optimistic that her recovery is genuine.  If any of you have seen this full episode (September, 2009), please update me on how it turned out.  That episode really moved me, and I hope to see how her life has changed.

Drug Rehab Intervention Follow Up Gave Hope

A follow-up show like this can really give hope for a person who really needs drug rehab.  Allison’s family seemed to be at the end of their rope with her.  They certainly feared for her life and future if something didn’t change.  Thankfully, she seems to have shown progress with her sober life.
