5 Female Celebrities Who Kicked Drugs With Good Habits
It’s not uncommon to see headlines that dish on which celebrity is headed to rehab or guessing whether or not a celeb is abusing drugs or alcohol. However, few follow the choices made by celebs who successfully complete drug addiction treatment and battle their way through recovery by making one good choice after another.
Here are five celebrities who came back from drug and alcohol abuse and replaced their old bad habits with healthy choices:
1.Angelina Jolie. Jolie said she has done “just about every drug possible” and included heroin, cocaine, Ecstasy and other drugs on her list of “been there, done that.” Since her younger years, she’s changed her course, replacing her bad habits with humanitarian efforts.
2.Drew Barrymore. Barrymore was candid about her early issues with drugs and alcohol. She says she was an alcoholic by the age of 12. In her teens, she added dysfunctional eating to her list of troubles. But in her 20s, Barrymore turned things around, filling her time with work, healthy eating and workouts.
3.Kelly Osbourne. By the age of 17, Osbourne was reported taking up to 50 prescription painkillers a day. After four separate trips to rehab, she was worried that she would never quite “get it” when it came to recovery. However, her stint on Dancing With the Stars helped immensely. A new goal and a great workout regime helped her to stay on track.
4.Jamie Lee Curtis. Struggling with a poor body image, Curtis underwent multiple plastic surgeries, ultimately developing a dependence upon the painkillers she was prescribed during the healing process. The addiction changed her priorities, and she soon fell out of shape – a big wakeup call. When she put painkillers behind her, she replaced them with extreme healthy living and, at 53, is one of the fittest stars in Hollywood. She is even a spokesperson and advocate for making healthy choices in fitness and food.
5.Kristin Davis. Though her character on Sex and the City was rarely without a cosmopolitan in hand, Davis herself was a recovering alcoholic during her time on the show. Her addiction developed and was treated before she hit the spotlight, so her ticket to a successful recovery included meditation, eating well, and a dedication to her career.
