One-on-one sessions provide an opportunity to discuss a personalized recovery plan.  Addicts can counselors can take their time crafting and shaping a plan that gives the addict the best chance for recovery.  To get to the really important issues, the client and therapist might need to work through some deep pain.  This is where that confidentiality and trust come in.
