Perfect Timing: The Formula for a Perfect Day
Some say nothing and no one is really perfect, yet some believe everything is perfect in all its imperfections. Either way, there is always some value it striving for as much perfection as possible. So what could be wrong with doing your best to manifest a perfect day?
There are various studies that have helped create a number of strategies we can use throughout our day to plot the course of our actions for the best possible results to achieve happiness. They say timing is everything, right?
Well perfect timing is almost impossible to fake or replicate, but if you want to get some excellent results, here are a few scheduling suggestions you can implement to make the most out of every minute you can. These are some factors in what some would consider the formula for a perfect day.
First Thing in the Morning
Here is a list of things that statistically produce the best results when done sometime earlier in the morning.
- Weigh Yourself
A study from Brown University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill found that 61% of people who stand on a scale in the morning maintained their weight (within 5 pounds). Starting off the day on the scale can help you assess your goals, if dieting or exercise are a priority, and celebrate your success early in the day.
- Sex
Surprisingly it seems between 7am-9am is the best time for a little fooling around, because the human body produces a surge in sex hormone and a rush of adrenaline to help wake you up.
- Shopping
According to Glasgow University psychologist Stephany Biello, the synapses in your brain are firing properly three hours after waking. This in combination with having a full stomach from breakfast and high energy levels perfectly primes the mind for decision making.
Go shopping after breakfast at around 10am-11am. Statistically more purchases made after 4pm when we are tired and hungry are commonly returned to the store.
Afternoon/Early Evening
- Taking Lunch
The early afternoon is when body’s digestive processes is working at full power. According to Cath Collins, chief dietitian at St George’s Hospital in London, you are able to digest food properly around 1pm-2pm and won’t be over-eating as your blood sugar should be sufficiently elevated.
- Exercise
Research from California’s San Jose University has concluded that a person’s reaction time and hand-eye co-ordination around 5pm-6pm are at their peak performance.
Other studies have also determined that body temperature and other physical parameters reach a peak in the late afternoon. According to experts this means:
- Warmer, more flexible muscles
- Greater strength
- More stamina
- Faster reaction times
It’s also when the stress hormone cortisol, which can damage the immune system, is at its lowest.
Late Evening
- Work on a Project
Apparently being tired can actually make people more creative, so it can give the imagination a jump start when working on a more unique project. An Albion College study recently determined tired students performed better on inside problems.
- Bedtime
The best bedtime is between the hours of 10pm-11pm when the levels of that stress hormone cortisol we talked about earlier have reached their lowest levels of the day. Simultaneously the human body begins producing a surge of sleep-inducing melatonin around this time of day, and that melatonin peaks around midnight.
Professor Jim Horne from Loughborough University’s Sleep Research Centre states that,
“Your heart rate falls along with your body temperature and stress hormones, so your whole body’s primed for sleep,”
To maximize the production of melatonin in the body make your bedroom as dark as possible. Do not eat, read or watch TV in bed, because this can also clutter your sense and your mind and decrease the quality of a deeper sleep.
These are all just a few simple time-frames throughout the day that you can utilize. Take advantage of every opportunity to improve on your day, and take every appropriate action you can to work towards healthier goals and productive projects. Throughout the day make sure to assess you success, and believe that every little step can be a huge step to changing your life.
Again, nothing is perfect. But there are always ways we can strive to be the absolute best we can.
